Privacy Policy for TeacherTab

TeacherTab is a Chrome extension operated by Tabwrite LLC ("we," "us," or "our"). This policy explains how we handle data for TeacherTab users.
The Short Version
The TeacherTab extension collects zero data on our servers. We do not store, track, or have access to any information about teachers who use the extension.
1. TeacherTab Extension (For Teachers)
What We Do NOT Collect
- Your email address
- Your browsing activity
- Your usage patterns or analytics
- Any personal information whatsoever
Optional Google Sign-In
TeacherTab offers an optional Google Sign-In feature to connect teachers with their school or district's custom configuration. When you sign in:
- Your email address is retrieved from Google and used only on your device to check if your school/district has a TeacherTab account
- Your email is never sent to or stored on our servers
- If your district has an account, we fetch their public configuration (announcements, links, tools) to display in your browser
- This configuration is cached locally on your device for faster loading
Local Storage Only
Any data stored by TeacherTab (such as cached district settings) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage. We cannot access this data.
2. TeacherTab Admin Website (For District Administrators)
District administrators who manage their school's TeacherTab configuration do create accounts on our website. For these users, we collect:
- Email address (for account authentication)
- District configuration settings they create (announcements, links, tools, branding)
This data is stored securely using Supabase and is used solely to provide the district customization service.
3. Third-Party Services
- Google Sign-In: Used for optional authentication in the extension. See Google's Privacy Policy.
- Supabase: Provides secure database infrastructure for district configurations and admin accounts.
4. Children's Privacy
TeacherTab is designed for use by educators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the extension collects no data, there is no student data to protect—but we encourage schools to review this policy as part of their compliance with COPPA and FERPA.
5. Data Security
Since we do not collect or store teacher data, there is no teacher data at risk. District admin accounts are protected using industry-standard encryption and authentication practices.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be posted on our website.
